Biggest SMS Scam Racket Busted
After fake and fraud emails purporting your in boxes daily now it’s turn for sms scam , which is growing very fast ,thus with defrauding the millions every day . In major sms scam in Bernama ,Kualalumpur, Federal police have busted syndicate based in Tawau, Sabah that was using the short-messaging service (SMS) defrauding 2,656 victims involving total losses of RM6.4 million over the last three years confirms Federal Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Koh Hong Sun.
At least 26 people were arrested mostly in the age group of 16 and 41 years which includes two women . The scam work like that ,syndicate would send out 4,000 SMSes every day from the laptops to random numbers informing the receiver that they had won a contest. Then they would ask to send account number for prize money and also PIN numbers.
The modus operandi was offering lucky draw prizes from giant companies like Maxis, Petronas and Power Root. Koh said despite there are many reports and warnings published by local media and also public service announcements regarding such scams. People still fall victims for such sms scams.

How to check Mobile SMS Scam

Here are some of the ways, to check out the such mobile scam message and tips to avoid to them.
1.Avoid replying such sms ,Never ever supply or reveal personal information to them.

2.SMS Scammers will always use the mobile brands like nokia , to lure or attract the victims, same way they will also furnish email (mostly from yahoo.live or gmail) as contact address.

3.International message are always sent through wireless network, which could not be traced easily , as sometimes number is not displayed .

4.The key to always be in touch with your cellular operators and report the abuse or incidents if it occurs.

5.Do also personally check your bank details . As crime gang can use your legitimate bank names ,to extract personal information and Internet banking details via sms.
