SMS alert on online scams

It's an old trick and many still fall for it,a cyber criminal sends a mail or SMS saying the recipient has won an online lottery of a foreign country. Individuals respond, only to lose huge sums of money which the fraudster ask for in the form of tax, customs, etc.
The number of people falling prey to such frauds is not coming down. Now, cyber crime police have come up with a novel idea. During the next week, all mobile subscribers in the state will start receiving SMSes from their service providers, cautioning them on these frauds. "It is part of the service providers' social responsibility programme. We held meetings and they will be sending SMSes to their subscribers, creating awareness on online fraud," said CID ADGP H C Kishore Chandra.
